Northern Kites Education

Phoenix is introduced to pupils at Winlaton Primary School Enthusing and educating people and local communities about red kites is one of the key elements of the Northern Kites Project. The Project team work with pre-school, primary and secondary schools and also deliver adult education opportunities, with a focus based around the kites.

Phoenix is introduced to Winlaton Primary School All education activities and materials developed by Northern Kites are linked with elements of the National Curriculum. ‘Sprite the Kite’ is our cartoon kite that helps explain about red kites and the reintroduction project. She is included in the kite-based education activities. (Sprite the Kite is illustrated by Jules Burnett).

There are two schemes available for schools to join providing opportunities to learn about red kites and their return to northeast England – KIDS4KITES and the Adopt-a-Kite Scheme.
